Dr. Luke Willis (Dental Surgeon)
BN, BHSc Dent, MDent, (LaTrobe) GDip Paramed (FedUni)

Thank you for taking the time to read my profile. After six years of study, I graduated from LaTrobe University with a Bachelor of Health Science in Dentistry & Masters in Dentistry. Prior to becoming a dentist, and whilst studying Dentistry, I worked as an Advanced Life Support Paramedic with Ambulance Victoria in Melbourne and Central Victoria.

I continue to practice paramedicine within central Victoria including Castlemaine, a position I have held for the past 10yrs.

After graduating from university, I was determined to join a dental practice where I was supported and encouraged to practice comprehensive, high quality dentistry in a friendly and collegial environment and was delighted to have been offered a position at Castlemaine Smiles by my respected mentor and university clinical demonstrator Dr. David Sims.

I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, and delight in helping my patients achieve their ideal dental health. To this day, I am amazed by the profound difference having a healthy and beautiful smile can make in peoples lives.

I consider it a privilege to practice dentistry; to relieve pain, allay anxiety, and to achieve high quality aesthetic outcomes which can literally change peoples lives.

I am a strong believer in continued education. This year alone I have attended multiple continuing professional development courses, the Australian Dental Congress in Melbourne and have also completed a mini-residency program for general dentistry on the Sunshine Coast for which I was selected amongst my pears.

I believe in providing patient centred, comprehensive dentistry built upon a relationship of care, trust and respect. My responsibility to my patients is to help them make informed decisions regarding their care, to work with them to achieve the best health outcomes, and to reduce the risk of future disease and the associated psychological and financial burdens.

I believe prevention should be the corner stone of every dentists practice, and for this reason, I consider my relationships with my patients to be of vital importance, so that health can be strengthened and maintained throughout life.

Having lived and around Castlemaine for most of my life, I am quite frond of the area and it’s people. My Grandparents met at a dance in Castlemaine over 60 years ago, and my family has had extensive ties with the Castlemaine Pipe Band, and following my family’s legacy, I also play the bagpipes.

Having worked in Castlemaine as a paramedic, and now as a dentist, I feel a kinship with the community. Both the town of Castlemaine and the surrounding country areas are beautiful, and I feel a strong tie to the region and it’s people.
